News...Grass-fed cows are not mad cowsThe United States had its first confirmed case of mad cow disease, technically known as Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy” or BSE, in December of 2003. The leading theory is that cattle contract BSE by being fed meat and bone meal made from other cattle infected with BSE. Choosing products from 100 percent grass-fed cattle is a safer choice because the animals are not fed any animal products. Their entire diet consists of water, pasture grasses, hay, grass silage (a form of fermented grass) and, in some cases, mineral and vitamin supplements. These products are safer in other ways as well because the animals are not treated with hormones, low-level antibiotics, or other pharmaceutical drugs.
